CGN Feature: Arkansas’ Maria José Marin Named SEC Golfer of the Year

Arkansas sophomore Maria José Marin has been named the 2024-25 SEC Golfer of the Year, becoming just the third player in program history to receive the honor, joining Stacy Lewis (2008) and Maria Fassi (2018, 2019).

Marin, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Year, has delivered a standout season for the No. 2-ranked Razorbacks. She currently leads the SEC in scoring and ranks No. 4 nationally per Clippd. Over 33 rounds this season, she has posted a 69.1 adjusted scoring average, notched 17 rounds of par or better, made 99 birdies, and owns a 639-89-11 win-loss-tie record.

Her season includes two individual titles — the Blessings Collegiate Invitational (where she set a tournament record at 11-under) and the Puerto Rico Classic — along with a runner-up finish at the Carmel Cup. She was also named NCAA Women’s Golfer of the Month for February.

Marin competed in the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur and is set to represent Team International at the Arnold Palmer Cup in June.
