Bailey Davis Makes History at THE JOHN SHIPPEN Women’s Invitational

Bailey Davis, a 22-year-old amateur and standout at the University of Tennessee, made history by winning THE JOHN SHIPPEN Women’s Invitational presented by Dow. The event, held at Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield, Michigan, saw Davis fire rounds of 68 and 76 to finish four shots ahead of 2021 champion Anita Uwadia.

With the win, Davis becomes the first amateur to claim the title in the tournament’s five-year history. She also earns exemptions into two upcoming LPGA Tour events: the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give (June 12–15) and the Dow Championship (June 26–29). For the Dow team event, Davis will partner with fellow amateur Allyn Stephens.

THE JOHN SHIPPEN Invitational was created in 2021 to provide competitive opportunities for the nation’s top Black amateur and professional golfers, helping address historic barriers and promote equity within the game. Davis’s win shines a spotlight on both her talent and the importance of events like THE JOHN SHIPPEN in pushing the sport forward.
