DBU head coach Kenny Trapp was named the 2026 Division II Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year presented by Golf Pride following another national championship season for the Patriots.
Trapp also collected WGCA West Region Coach of the Year honors for the 14th time in his career. The national award marks the fifth time he has received the recognition after previously earning the honor in 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
DBU secured its second straight NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship this season and captured the program’s fourth national title overall. The Patriots finished the year with eight tournament victories, including seven regular season wins.
The national championship marked the 98th tournament victory of Trapp’s coaching career, extending his record as the winningest coach in NCAA Division II women’s golf history.
Throughout the season, DBU remained ranked inside the top five nationally while placing all five regular starters on the All Lone Star Conference team. Ella Cheek earned Lone Star Conference Player of the Year honors, giving the Patriots the conference’s top individual award for the seventh consecutive season.
Three DBU players finished the year ranked inside the top 25 nationally, including No. 2 Ella Cheek, No. 14 Gracie Grant, and No. 25 Madison Ude. Cheek earned WGCA All America honors for the third time in her career, while Ude received the recognition for the first time.
