Grace H. Lee opened with a 5 under 67 to take the first round lead at the Sea Island Women’s Amateur on Thursday at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
The event features 78 collegiate and amateur players competing in a 54 hole stroke play format and serves as the opening tournament of the Women’s Elite Amateur Golf Series.
Purdue’s Samantha Brown and Florida Southern College’s Mckinley Holding sit tied for second at 4 under 68 following round one.
Morgan Ellison, a UTSA graduate, and Georgia’s Trinity Beth are tied for fourth after each carded 3 under 69 rounds.
Five players share sixth place at 2 under par, including Stetson’s Isaki Sakashita, LSU’s Raegan Denton, North Florida’s Kaitlyn Schroeder, Princeton’s Sarah Lim, and Florida’s Addison Klonowski.
