High Point Leads Big South Championship After Round One, Barr Holds Individual Lead
Round one of the Big South Women’s Golf Championship is complete at Ocean Creek Golf Course at Fripp Island Resort in Saint Helena Island, South Carolina, with High Point leading the team standings and Georgia Barr setting the pace individually.
High Point leads the field at 5 over after the opening round. Radford and Winthrop are tied for second at 16 over, while Gardner Webb sits fourth at 17 over. Longwood is fifth at 22 over, followed by Charleston Southern at 24 over.
UNC Asheville is seventh at 26 over, with Presbyterian eighth at 27 over. USC Upstate rounds out the standings at 37 over.
In the individual standings, Gardner Webb’s Georgia Barr leads at 3 under. Winthrop’s Constança Mendonça and High Point’s Makayla Grubb are tied for second at 2 under.
High Point’s Eva Lye is fourth at 1 under, while Presbyterian’s Taylor Reaves sits fifth at even par. Radford’s Mckenzie Weddle and Presbyterian’s Sloane Spessard are tied for sixth at 1 over.
High Point’s Anaïs Arafi and Charleston Southern’s Eugenie Varet are tied for eighth at 2 over. Longwood’s Chiara Wippert rounds out the top 10 at 3 over.
