The 100th South Atlantic Women’s Amateur Championship concluded at Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach Florida, with Amelie Zalsman capturing the title and setting a new tournament scoring record.
Zalsman, a Wake Forest University commit from St. Petersburg Florida, finished at fifteen under par 273 after rounds of 71, 66, 64, and 72. Her total surpassed the previous 72 hole tournament record of thirteen under par set by Jessica Korda in 2010, marking the lowest score in relation to par in the event’s 100 year history.
Zalsman entered the final round tied with Duke signee Mia Hammond but maintained control throughout the day despite fast greens and windy conditions. Hammond closed with a 76 to finish third at eleven under par 277.
Kary Hollenbaugh of Ohio State placed second at thirteen under par 275 after a final round 71. The two time defending champion made a late push on the back nine but could not close the gap.
Katelyn Huber of the University of Florida finished fourth at seven under par 281 following a final round 68. Morgan Ketchum of Wake Forest placed fifth at five under par 283.
