Interview Highlights with CGN+
Discovering golf in Belgium
De Bock grew up in a golfing family but initially preferred other sports. Her interest changed during a 2015 trip to the United States when a broken finger limited her activities. After discovering she could still play golf with an adjusted grip, she began spending more time on the course and eventually entered junior competitions.
Becoming a European amateur champion
De Bock credited her development to focusing on improvement and enjoyment rather than results. That approach helped her progress through junior tournaments, win the 2022 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship and represent Europe in the Junior Solheim Cup.
Choosing Georgia and transferring to Eastern Michigan
De Bock initially committed to Georgia because of her relationship with head coach Josh Brewer, who regularly attended her junior tournaments.
Following Brewer’s departure from Georgia, she entered the transfer portal and joined him at Eastern Michigan in 2024. She also credited the program’s vision and coaching staff for influencing her decision.
Helping Eastern Michigan reach the NCAA semifinals
De Bock discussed Eastern Michigan’s historic 2026 NCAA Championships appearance and its quarterfinal victory over Texas.
She won her match 5 and 3 and recalled the excitement of watching her teammates secure the result that sent the Eagles to the national semifinals.
Improving her short game
During the summer of 2026, de Bock changed putters and focused on improving her wedge play. She regularly practiced a wedge drill provided by Brewer and credited the additional work for helping her tournament performances.
Winning the Leadership & Golf Invitational
De Bock entered the final round at Chambers Bay tied for fifth before closing with a four under 68 to win by one stroke.
She explained that she avoided checking the leaderboard and concentrated on creating birdie opportunities. Eastern Michigan also won the team championship, completing another team and individual sweep.
GameAbove’s impact on Eastern Michigan
De Bock highlighted GameAbove’s support of the golf program, including practice facilities, tournament sponsorship, training trips and video coverage.
She credited the organization for providing resources and encouragement that have contributed to the team’s development.
