Four players remain at the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship after Carter Loflin, Jack Whaley, Logan Reilly and Jay Leng Jr. earned quarterfinal victories Friday at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
The semifinals will feature Loflin against Whaley, while Reilly will face Leng for a place in the championship match.
Reilly, an Auburn sophomore who helped secure the Tigers’ NCAA Championship victory, advanced with a 6-and-4 win over Michael Lugiano. He will meet Stanford junior Leng, who defeated Jack Turner 6 and 5 in his quarterfinal match.
On the other side of the bracket, former Georgia golfer Loflin earned a 3-and-2 victory over Brandon Knight. Whaley, a Florida State senior from England, advanced by defeating Adam Bresnu 5 and 4.
The four semifinalists are now two match play victories away from the U.S. Amateur title. The champion is set to receive exemptions into the 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, the Masters Tournament and The Open Championship, subject to applicable amateur status requirements.
