Asterisk Talley completed a dominant week at The Honors Course, defeating Japan’s Anna Iwanaga, 8 and 6, to win the 126th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and claim her second USGA title.
The 17 year old from California rallied after trailing by one hole late in the morning round. Talley squared the match with a birdie on the 11th hole before winning the next two holes to take control. She carried a 3 up advantage into the afternoon session and never relinquished the lead.
Talley extended her advantage throughout the final 18 holes, highlighted by a chip in eagle on the par 5 11th hole of the afternoon round. She closed out the championship with a par on the following hole to secure the victory.
The title adds to an already impressive amateur résumé. Talley won the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four Ball Championship, finished runner up at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur, and was also runner up at the 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. She also recorded a runner up finish at the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur before claiming her first U.S. Women’s Amateur title.
Talley is committed to Stanford and will join the Cardinal following her high school graduation.
With the victory, Talley earns an exemption into the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open at Inverness Club, along with additional exemptions awarded to the U.S. Women’s Amateur champion.
