Barnes Blake claimed the 124th Met Amateur Championship on Sunday, defeating Christian Cavaliere, 7 and 5, in the final at Deepdale Golf Club in Manhasset, New York.
After falling 2 down early in the morning round, Blake responded with a series of birdies to take control of the match before extending his advantage throughout the afternoon. He secured the title on the 31st hole to complete one of the most decisive championship match victories in recent tournament history.
Blake advanced to the final after defeating Brad Tilley in the semifinals and earlier eliminated Matt Lowe in the quarterfinals. The championship capped another standout summer for the Baltusrol member, who successfully defended his New Jersey Amateur title in July.
With the victory, Blake became just the third player in the past 102 years to win both the New Jersey Amateur and Met Amateur in the same season. He also joined the list of golfers to capture both the Met Junior and Met Amateur during their careers.
Cavaliere finished runner up after another deep run in the championship. The Hudson National standout reached the semifinals in 2025 and previously finished as the tournament runner up in 2024, 2023, and 2018.
Both finalists are scheduled to compete in the 2026 U.S. Amateur at Merion Golf Club beginning August 10.
