Former Texas standout Tommy Morrison earned his first professional victory Sunday, winning the Evans Scholars Invitational by three strokes at The Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois.

Morrison closed with an 8 under 63 to finish at 29 under 255, setting a new tournament scoring record. He finished three shots ahead of Dylan Menante, who placed second at 26 under.

Fast Start Fuels Final Round

Beginning Sunday with a one shot lead, Morrison quickly created separation with five consecutive birdies to open his round.

He added another birdie at No. 11 and an eagle at the par 4 15th to complete rounds of 65, 63, 64 and 63.

The victory came in just his fourth Korn Ferry Tour appearance since completing his collegiate career at Texas. Morrison has finished T10, T5, second and first in his first four professional starts.

Texas Connections Continue

Morrison became the latest former Longhorn to win the Evans Scholars Invitational. Scottie Scheffler earned his first professional victory at the same tournament in 2019.

Morrison also had Scott McGuinness as his caddie, who previously worked with Scheffler during his 2019 victory at The Glen Club. The win moved Morrison to eighth in the Korn Ferry Tour points standings.

Former Texas players also produced several strong finishes. Luke Potter placed fourth at 20 under, Cole Hammer tied for 17th at 16 under and Christiaan Maas tied for 34th at 13 under.
