Pepperdine’s Byungho Lee captured the 124th Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur Championship on Saturday, defeating Michigan’s Nilay Naik, 3 and 1, in the 36 hole championship match at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington.
The match was tied after the opening 18 holes before Lee pulled ahead during the afternoon round. He regained the lead with a birdie on the 10th hole, extended the advantage on the 12th, and closed out the victory on the 17th to claim the Macan Cup.
Lee entered match play as the No. 8 seed after stroke play qualifying. His path to the title included a 20 hole victory in the Round of 64, followed by wins of 4 and 3, 2 and 1, a quarterfinal victory by concession, and a 4 and 2 semifinal win over Naoki Easterday.
The championship adds another title to Lee’s resume after winning the 2026 Texas Amateur earlier this year. His victory also ended Sam Renner’s two year reign as Pacific Northwest Amateur champion.
Naik finished runner up for the second consecutive year after advancing to the championship match for the second straight season.
