Parker Sands of Florida remains atop the leaderboard after 36 holes at the 122nd Trans Mississippi Amateur Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sands followed his opening round 64 with an even par 70 to reach 8 under 134 and carry a one shot lead into the third round.
Notre Dame’s Zihang Mike Qiu, Minnesota’s Chun Ta Wu, and Oklahoma’s Ryder Cowan are tied for second at 7 under. Wu matched the low round of the day with a 4 under 67, while Cowan was 4 under through 13 holes when play was suspended.
Indiana’s Cole Starnes and Georgia Tech’s Max Emberson each climbed into a tie for fifth after posting 6 under 65s. South Alabama’s Hugo Thyr also shares fifth at 4 under 138.
San Diego’s Reed Arnaldo, New Mexico’s Thayer Plewe, and Arkansas’ Manuel Lozada are tied for eighth at 3 under 139.
The championship continues Thursday with the third round at Southern Hills Country Club.
