Houston Men’s Golf Coach Jonathan Dismuke Announces Retirement

Houston director of golf and Mike Booker head coach Jonathan Dismuke will step away from coaching to accept a position in private business, the university announced Tuesday.

Dismuke spent 17 seasons leading the Cougars after being hired in 2009. During his tenure, Houston advanced to three NCAA Championships and made 12 NCAA Regional appearances, including each of the last six seasons.

Houston also captured 21 team tournament titles under Dismuke, highlighted by Conference USA championship victories in 2013 and the American Athletic Conference title in 2023. Santiago De La Fuente earned medalist honors during Houston’s 2023 AAC championship run.

Nineteen Houston players combined for 29 individual tournament victories during Dismuke’s time with the program. Hudson Weibel recorded three wins during the 2025 and 2026 season.

Five Cougars earned All-America recognition during Dismuke’s tenure, including Roman Robledo, James Ross, Blair Hamilton, Michael Perras, and Santiago De La Fuente. Houston players also collected 23 All Conference honors during that stretch.

The Cougars reached three consecutive NCAA Championships from 2014 through 2016 and finished 10th nationally in 2014 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Kansas.

Off the course, more than 110 student-athletes earned Academic All-Conference honors during Dismuke’s time leading the program.

Houston announced a national search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.
