Stroke play has concluded at the Big South Women’s Golf Championship at Ocean Creek Golf Course at Fripp Island Resort in South Carolina, with High Point earning the top seed and UNC Asheville’s Caroline Patterson capturing medalist honors.
High Point finished at 34 over with rounds of 5 over, 12 over, and 17 over to lead the field. UNC Asheville secured the No. 2 seed at 49 over, followed by Longwood in third at 53 over. Charleston Southern, Radford, and Winthrop each finished at 58 over, with Charleston Southern winning a three team sudden death playoff to claim the fourth and final match play spot.
The top four teams advancing to match play are High Point, UNC Asheville, Longwood, and Charleston Southern.
Gardner Webb placed seventh at 89 over, followed by Presbyterian at 98 over and USC Upstate at 134 over.
In the individual standings, UNC Asheville’s Caroline Patterson finished at 1 under with rounds of 7 over, 5 under, and 3 under to earn medalist honors. The win marks the first Big South individual title in program history for UNC Asheville.
High Point’s Makayla Grubb finished second at 1 over. Longwood’s Madison Lehr and Winthrop’s Constança Mendonça tied for third at 2 over. Charleston Southern’s Eugenie Varet and High Point’s Eva Lye tied for fifth at 4 over.
Charleston Southern’s Katie Stephens and Longwood’s Abigail Sheldon tied for seventh at 8 over. UNC Asheville’s Breanna Hoese placed ninth at 12 over, while Radford’s Mckenzie Weddle finished 10th at 13 over.
