From Nashville to TCU

Wilt grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where golf became an important part of his childhood.

He told CGN that both of his grandfathers enjoyed golf and helped introduce him and his brother, Hudson, to the game.

Wilt competed in several sports while attending Ensworth High School, including football, basketball, track and soccer. Although he considered pursuing football or track at the collegiate level, golf eventually became his primary focus.

His high school golf career included a team state championship and individual All State recognition.

Wilt also credited his high school coach, Virgil Herring, and his swing instructor for helping him develop his game.

Earning His Opportunity at TCU

Wilt’s path to collegiate golf differed from the traditional recruiting process.

After graduating from high school, he initially attended classes in Nashville before transferring to TCU during the spring semester.

He arrived without a position on the golf team.

Following a coaching change, Wilt contacted head coach Bill Allcorn and asked for an opportunity to earn a roster spot.

He spent the summer competing in several amateur tournaments before participating in a qualifying competition for the team.

Wilt finished second in the qualifier, narrowly missing the top position, but earned a place in TCU’s opening tournament lineup.

He told CGN that earning his opportunity was particularly meaningful because playing college golf had been a goal since childhood.

Developing at TCU

Wilt has shown consistent improvement throughout his collegiate career.

During the 2023 to 2024 season, he recorded a 73.3 scoring average across 31 rounds. His best finish came at the National Golf Invitational, where he tied for ninth at 5 under.

He improved his scoring average to 72.7 during the 2024 to 2025 season while competing in 11 events, including Big 12 Match Play.

His season included a 5 under performance at the Ka’anapali Classic and a tie for 23rd at the Big 12 Championship.

Wilt continued that progression during the 2025 to 2026 season, recording a 71.63 scoring average with 17 rounds of par or better and nine rounds below 70.

His strongest performance came at the Ka’anapali Classic, where he tied for 11th at 12 under with rounds of 66, 66 and 67.

He also averaged 3.02 strokes on par 3 holes, the best mark recorded by a TCU player since the program began tracking the statistic in 1997.

Winning the Texas Amateur

Wilt captured one of the biggest victories of his amateur career at the 2025 Texas Amateur Championship.

Competing at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas, Wilt finished at 12 under 268 to secure a two shot victory.

He entered the final round with a three shot advantage and closed with a 71 to claim the championship.

The victory came shortly after a difficult tournament performance that prompted Wilt to return to practice and work on the fundamentals of his game.

Wilt told CGN that sharing the experience with his brother, family and girlfriend made the championship particularly meaningful.

The victory also represented an important milestone in his development as an amateur golfer.

Competing Against Leading Amateur Fields

Wilt continued gaining experience during the summer of 2026 through appearances in several prominent amateur championships.

His schedule included the North & South Amateur, The Amateur Championship, Trans Mississippi Amateur and Monroe Invitational.

He finished ninth at the North & South Amateur and competed internationally at The Amateur Championship alongside several TCU teammates.

Wilt explained that competing throughout the summer helps prepare him for the collegiate season, particularly the conference and national championship events in the spring.

He also emphasized the importance of balancing competition with occasional time away from golf to remain prepared throughout the year.
