Texas took control of the men’s competition at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup after two rounds of stroke play at Fields Ranch East, building a 12 stroke lead while Longhorn Daniel Bennett moved into a share of the individual lead.
The Longhorns followed an opening round 5 under performance with an 11 under second round to reach 16 under through 36 holes. Texas A&M sits second at 4 under after shooting 1 under in the second round, while Rice is third at 1 under.
Utah and SMU share fourth at 8 over, while Houston is sixth at 22 over.

Palacios and Bennett Share Individual Lead
Utah’s Gabriel Palacios and Texas’ Daniel Bennett are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 6 under.
Both players opened with rounds of 2 under before shooting 4 under in the second round to reach 6 under through 36 holes.
Texas also has Matt Comegys one stroke behind the leaders at 5 under. Comegys opened with a 4 under round before adding a 1 under performance in round two.
Rice’s Reggie Zhu joins Comegys in a tie for third at 5 under after rounds of 2 under and 3 under.
Texas A&M’s Wheaton Ennis and SMU’s Alex Huang are tied for fifth at 3 under. Ennis sits at 3 under after rounds of 1 under and 2 under, while Huang moved up the leaderboard with a 4 under second round.
