Iowa opened the 2026 Inverness Intercollegiate with the lead in both the team and individual competitions Sunday at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
The Hawkeyes finished the opening round at 1 under, eight strokes clear of a three way tie for second. Iowa’s Andrew Johannsen also claimed the individual lead after an opening 3 under round.
The NCAA Division I tournament, hosted by Toledo, runs September 13 through 15.
Iowa Takes Early Team Lead
Iowa was the only team to finish the opening round under par, posting a 1 under total to establish an eight stroke advantage.
Host Toledo, Tennessee and Ohio State are tied for second at 7 over. Purdue sits fifth at 9 over, followed by Auburn at 10 over.
Texas Tech, East Tennessee State and Michigan are tied for seventh at 11 over, while Loyola Marymount rounds out the top 10 at 12 over.

Johannsen Sets Individual Pace
Iowa’s Andrew Johannsen matched his team’s strong start with a 3 under opening round to take the individual lead.
Michigan’s Nilay Naik is one stroke behind at 2 under. Five players share third at 1 under, including Iowa’s Maxwell Tjoa, Toledo’s Bence Bertenyi, Ohio State teammates Giedrius Mackelis and Tyler Sabo and Purdue’s Sam Easterbrook.
