Two of the team’s selections enter Lahinch as winners of major amateur championships this summer. Grehan captured The Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool in June, while Whaley won the U.S. Amateur at Merion on Sunday with a 4 and 3 victory over Stanford’s Jay Leng Jr.
Dean Robertson will captain Great Britain and Ireland for the third time. The former Walker Cup player also captained the team at Cypress Point in 2025.
Great Britain and Ireland will look to reclaim the Walker Cup for the first time since defeating the United States 16.5 to 9.5 at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2015.
The two teams will compete across two days of singles and foursomes matches as Lahinch hosts the Walker Cup for the first time.
