Oklahoma State standout Preston Stout has earned the 2026 Mark H. McCormack Medal after finishing the elite amateur season atop the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
The honor adds another achievement to a season in which Stout won the NCAA Division I individual championship, captured his third consecutive Big 12 individual title and secured a place on the United States Walker Cup team.
By winning the McCormack Medal, Stout receives exemptions into the 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links and The Open Championship at St. Andrews, provided he remains an amateur.
Championship Season at Oklahoma State
Stout produced five individual victories during his junior season at Oklahoma State, highlighted by the NCAA individual championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
His victory at the Big 12 Championship also made history. Stout became the first player to win three Big 12 individual titles and joined Lindy Miller as the only Oklahoma State golfer to capture three conference championships.
Stout’s collegiate season also resulted in First Team PING All American honors, Big 12 Player of the Year recognition and First Team All Big 12 honors. He was also a finalist for the Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan and Fred Haskins Awards.
Success Beyond College Golf
Stout carried his success into professional competition during the summer, making two cuts across five professional starts. His best finish came at the John Deere Classic, where he tied for 15th.
He also competed in his first major championship at the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.
Stout enters his senior season as the preseason No. 1 player in the PGA TOUR University Class of 2027.
Walker Cup Ahead
Before returning to Oklahoma State, Stout will represent the United States in the 2026 Walker Cup at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland on Sept. 5 and 6.
It will be his second consecutive Walker Cup appearance. Stout went 2 and 2 during the United States victory over Great Britain and Ireland at Cypress Point in 2025, winning both of his singles matches.
The McCormack Medal is awarded annually by the USGA and The R&A to the leading player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking following the conclusion of the elite amateur season.
