Stanford’s Jay Leng capped off an impressive summer by finishing first in the 2026 Men’s Elite Amateur Cup standings, securing the season-long title following his victory at the Western Amateur.
Leng accumulated 57.4562 World Amateur Golf Ranking performance points across just three Elite Amateur Golf Series events, becoming the first player to win the Men’s Cup while competing in only three tournaments. His runner-up finish at the Northeast Amateur and championship performance at the Western Amateur proved enough to finish nearly 10 points ahead of the field.
The Elite Amateur Cup is determined by cumulative World Amateur Golf Ranking performance points earned throughout the seven-event Elite Amateur Golf Series. Players must compete in at least three events to qualify, with point totals reflecting the strength of each championship field.
Leng’s victory at the Western Amateur, the final event of the series, ultimately secured the title. After advancing through 72 holes of stroke play and four rounds of match play at Beverly Country Club, he defeated Vanderbilt’s Michael Riebe, 5 and 4, in the championship match. His Western Amateur victory was worth 24.7010 World Amateur Golf Ranking performance points, the highest single event total of the 2026 series.
The San Diego native also enjoyed a standout collegiate season at Stanford. Leng led the Cardinal with a 70.66 scoring average over 32 rounds, earned PING All-West Region and All-ACC honors, tied for third at The Goodwin, and helped Stanford capture the ACC stroke play championship.
