Auburn standout Jackson Koivun announced Friday that he will forgo his senior season and begin his professional career on the PGA Tour following next week’s U.S. Open.
Koivun will make his final start as an amateur at the U.S. Open before turning professional and debuting on the PGA Tour at the John Deere Classic, scheduled for July 1 through July 5 at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.
The three-time SEC individual champion leaves Auburn after helping lead the Tigers to two NCAA Division I national championships and establishing himself as one of the most accomplished players in college golf history.
Koivun secured PGA Tour membership through the PGA Tour U Accelerated program at the conclusion of his sophomore season. He elected to return to Auburn for the 2025-26 campaign and finished his collegiate career with more than double the points required for Tour membership.
The North Carolina native departs Auburn as the program’s all time leader with 11 individual victories, a mark that is also tied for the SEC record and ranks among the best in NCAA history. Earlier this season, he became the first player to sweep the Fred Haskins Award, Ben Hogan Award, and Jack Nicklaus Award twice after previously accomplishing the feat as a freshman in 2024.
Koivun also leaves as Auburn’s career leader in scoring average, sub par rounds, rounds in the 60s, top 10 finishes, and victories. His career scoring average of 68.89 and single season mark of 68.20 are NCAA records.
Across 39 collegiate starts, Koivun recorded top 10 finishes in 34 events and finished outside the top 20 only twice. His victory list includes three SEC Championships along with wins at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, Inverness Intercollegiate, NCAA Auburn Regional, Amer Ari Invitational, Gator Invitational, The Hayt, Mason Rudolph Championship, and Ford Collegiate.
Internationally, Koivun represented the United States in the 2024 and 2025 Arnold Palmer Cups and the 2025 Walker Cup, helping Team USA to victory.
