TCU standout Yvette O’Brien added another title to her growing resume on Thursday, winning the 27th Connecticut Women’s Open at Tumble Brook Country Club and becoming the first player in Connecticut golf history to capture the Connecticut Girls’ Junior, Connecticut Women’s Amateur, and Connecticut Women’s Open championships.
Representing Greenwich Country Club, O’Brien followed an opening round 72 with a tournament low 69 to finish at 3 under par 141 and claim a three shot victory. She was the only competitor in the field to finish under par for the championship.
O’Brien entered the final round tied for the lead and separated herself late in the day. A birdie on the par 4 16th gave her a two shot advantage, and she added another birdie at the closing hole to secure the title.
The victory also made O’Brien the first amateur to win the Connecticut Women’s Open since 2022.
Hartford Golf Club’s Maisie Filler finished second at even par 144 after rounds of 73 and 71.
Defending champion Yvonne Cox Holmes of Williamsburg, Virginia, shared third place with amateur Dixon Hill of Waite Hill, Ohio, at 1 over par 145. Cox Holmes matched the low round of the final day with a 69, while Hill posted rounds of 72 and 73.
Alise Knudson of Dallas, Texas, and Hailey Katona of Rutland, Vermont, tied for fifth at 2 over par 146.
Ellen Ceresko finished seventh at 3 over par 147, while Josee Doyon, Ami Gianchandani, and amateur Grace Leber shared eighth place at 4 over par 148. Amateur Xiaoyu He rounded out the top 11 at 5 over par 149.
