UNLV announced the hiring of former standout Andres Gonzales as the next head coach of the men’s golf program, making him the fourth full time coach in school history.
Gonzales played for the Rebels from 2003 to 2006 before spending five seasons on the PGA Tour and six seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour. He also worked on the PGA Tour LIVE broadcast team for ESPN+ from 2022 through 2026.
During his time at UNLV, Gonzales earned PING Third Team All America honors and was a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist. He recorded a win at the 2006 William H. Tucker Invitational and posted a 72.79 career scoring average, which still ranks among the best in program history.
Gonzales helped UNLV reach the NCAA Championship twice and NCAA Regionals three times, including a victory at the 2005 NCAA West Regional. His best NCAA Championship finish came in 2005 when he tied for eighth individually.
Professionally, Gonzales made two U.S. Open appearances and collected two victories on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour. He also earned 15 top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour.
The Olympia, Washington native becomes the first former player to lead the UNLV men’s golf program. He replaces Jean Paul Hebert, who recently accepted the head coaching position at Baylor.
UNLV owns one national championship in men’s golf, winning the title in 1998, and has made 23 NCAA Championship appearances.
