Oklahoma announced Sunday that head coach Ryan Hybl will resign following the NCAA Championship to accept the head coaching position at Georgia Tech, while associate head coach Jonathan Moore has been promoted to lead the Sooners program.
Hybl spent 17 seasons at Oklahoma and guided the Sooners to one of the most successful stretches in program history. During his tenure, Oklahoma won 51 team titles, captured the 2017 NCAA Championship, earned 15 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, and advanced to NCAA Match Play seven times.
The Sooners also won six NCAA Regional titles and three Big 12 Championships under Hybl in 2018, 2022, and 2023.
Moore joined the Oklahoma staff in 2023 after working with Oklahoma State’s golf performance programs and following a professional playing career that included four victories on the Asian Tour.
Since arriving in Norman, Moore helped Oklahoma win three consecutive NCAA Regional titles and record two top 10 finishes at the NCAA Championship. The Sooners also claimed 10 tournament victories during his three seasons on staff.
A former NCAA individual champion at Oklahoma State in 2006, Moore competed for Team USA at the 2007 Walker Cup before transitioning into coaching and golf performance development.
Oklahoma will conclude the season at the NCAA Championship from May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, California.
