The Arnold Palmer Cup began in 1997 and features a Ryder Cup style format matching the top collegiate players from the United States against an International team. The event has been played at notable venues including St Andrews, Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, Cherry Hills, and Lahinch.
In 2018, the format expanded to include both men and women competing together, making it the only major collegiate competition with a mixed team structure.
The Palmer Cup has served as a pathway to the professional level, with more than 250 past participants earning status on major tours. Many alumni have gone on to compete in team events such as the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, and Solheim Cup.
The event is part of the Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation, which focuses on youth development and using the game to create impact beyond competition.
