Presbyterian Wins Big South Championship in Match Play Final Over USC Upstate

Presbyterian secured the 2026 Big South Men’s Golf Championship with a 3 to 2 victory over USC Upstate at Ocean Creek Golf Course at Fripp Island Resort in South Carolina. The win marks the program’s first conference title and earns the Blue Hose an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.

The final came down to the last match, where Spence Hagood defeated Alec Prentice on the 20th hole. Hagood trailed early before rallying with three straight birdies to even the match. After both players exchanged birdies late, the match went to extra holes where Hagood secured the deciding point.

Presbyterian opened the final with a 6 and 5 win from James Rhodes over Nate Heller to take an early lead. USC Upstate answered in the second match as Phuthanate Kangwol defeated Gage Gaskins by the same margin to level the score.

Jeep Patrick gave Presbyterian a 2 to 1 advantage with a 3 and 1 win over Jackson Stone. USC Upstate tied the match at 2 to 2 when Jas Sohal defeated Richard Anaclerio by 2 up, setting up the deciding match between Hagood and Prentice.

In the semifinals, Presbyterian advanced with a 3 to 2 win over High Point, rallying from a 2 to 0 deficit by winning the final three matches. USC Upstate reached the final with a 3 to 2 victory over Winthrop.
