The 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur opened with two players at the top of the leaderboard, as Maria Jose Marin of Arkansas and Soomin Oh each posted 7 under 65 at Champions Retreat.
Marin delivered a bogey free round to set the early pace, combining precision and control throughout her opening 18. Her round featured seven birdies and positioned her immediately among the leaders in a field where early scoring is critical.
Oh matched that number later in the day, carding her own 65 to move into a share of the lead and close out the opening round with co leaders at the top.
Three players sit one shot back at 6 under 66. Vanessa Borovilos of Texas A&M, Asterisk Talley, a Stanford commit, and Andrea Revuelta of Stanford all remain within striking distance entering the second round. Talley’s round included an eagle finish that quickly moved her into contention, continuing momentum from her runner up finish last year.
At 5 under 67, Raegan Denton, an LSU commit, Amelie Zalsman of Wake Forest, and Meja Örtengren of Stanford are all in position heading into Thursday. Avery Weed of Mississippi State and Arianna Lau of Northwestern round out the top group at 4 under 68.
The scoring reflects the strength of the field, which includes 48 of the top 50 players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. With only the low 30 and ties advancing to Augusta National for the final round, positioning after the opening day carries immediate importance.
