BYU Leads Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational After Two Rounds, Akina Holds Individual Lead

Two rounds of the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational are complete at Silverado Country Club and Resort in Napa, California, with BYU holding the team leads and Kihei Akina pacing the individual standings.

BYU leads at 28 under through 36 holes, building an 11-shot advantage over North Alabama at 17 under. Tohoku Fukushi and San Francisco are tied for third at 13 under, followed by Santa Clara at 12 under.

In the individual race, BYU’s Kihei Akina leads at 12 under after rounds of 65 and 67. UC Davis’ Lequan Wang is second at nine under, while Santa Clara’s Matt Robles is third at eight under.

Kaito Sato of Tohoku Fukushi and Xing Luo of North Alabama are tied for fourth at six under. A group at five under includes North Alabama’s Andrew Ferworn and Jedd Brady, along with BYU’s Peter Kim and Tyson Shelley.

BYU enters the final round with a double-digit lead and multiple players inside the top 10.
