San Diego captured the team title at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational with a 26 under total of 838 at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, California. The Toreros posted rounds of 283, 274, and 281 to finish two shots ahead of Long Beach State.
The win is San Diego’s first tournament victory since the 2025 Nick Watney Invitational and marks the program’s second Lamkin Invitational title in the past three years after also winning in 2024.
Long Beach State finished second at 24 under, while Brigham Young placed third at 17 under. St. Mary’s finished fourth at 14 under and San Diego State rounded out the top five at 13 under.
In the individual competition, Brigham Young freshman Kihei Akina claimed medalist honors at 14 under with rounds of 67, 71, and 64. Akina began the final round five shots off the lead before producing the lowest round of the day with an 8 under 64 that included six birdies and one eagle without a bogey. Long Beach State’s Alejandro De Castro finished second at 13 under.
San Diego placed three players inside the top ten. Ian Maspat finished sixth at 6 under, Reed Arnaldo tied for seventh at 5 under, and Cooper Humphreys tied for ninth at 4 under.
