Virginia remains the No. 1 team in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll released March 6 after opening the spring season with two victories. The Cavaliers collected 26 first place votes and 698 points, maintaining the top spot for the second consecutive poll.
Virginia’s strong start includes a one stroke victory at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on March 3 in Las Vegas. The tournament featured one of the strongest fields of the season, including the top four ranked teams at the time.
Auburn climbed to No. 2 with two first place votes and 668 points. Florida moved into No. 3 with 630 points, followed by Texas at No. 4 with 609 points. LSU rounds out the top five with 566 points.
Arkansas sits at No. 6 with 558 points while Oklahoma State ranks seventh with 517 points. Illinois is eighth with 479 points and Arizona State holds the ninth position with 470 points. Vanderbilt completes the top ten with 447 points.
Texas Tech made one of the largest jumps in the rankings, moving to No. 11 after previously sitting at No. 19. Pepperdine follows at No. 12 while Ole Miss holds the No. 13 position. Oklahoma ranks fourteenth and Alabama sits at No. 15.
Tennessee enters the rankings at No. 16 ahead of North Carolina at No. 17. New Mexico is eighteenth while Georgia Tech sits at No. 19.
Duke moves into the poll at No. 20 after previously receiving votes. Stanford joins the rankings at No. 21 while Charlotte holds the No. 22 position. Notre Dame remains at No. 23 and Utah drops to No. 24. Arizona rounds out the poll at No. 25.
Fourteen additional programs received votes in this week’s poll including USC, Wake Forest, BYU, Tennessee Tech, Georgia, San Diego State, Texas A&M, Florida State, San Diego, Arkansas State, UCLA, Long Beach State, Louisville, and UNC Wilmington.
The next Bushnell Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll is scheduled to be released on March 27.
