West Georgia captured the team title at the Savannah Intercollegiate at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia, completing a final round comeback to secure the program’s first team championship in the Division I era.
The Wolves entered the final round seven shots off the lead but posted an 11 over 299, the lowest team score of the day in difficult wind conditions, to finish at twenty four over par overall. West Georgia edged Iona by two strokes and finished four shots clear of Creighton, the highest ranked team in the field.
The victory marked West Georgia’s first outright team win since 2019 and the program’s first Division I team title.
Sophomore Milton Wallin shared medalist honors with Swidzinski of Longwood at one under par, becoming the first individual champion for West Georgia in the Division I era. Wallin closed with a final round 73 that included two birdies and an eagle. He finished the tournament with nine total birdies and secured the program’s first individual win since 2022.
Max Winnersjo delivered West Georgia’s lowest round of the final day with a one under 71, recording four birdies to move into a tie for seventh. Thomas Romani carded a 76 to finish tied for 42nd alongside teammate Tyler Nesci, who shot 79 on Sunday. Luke Sienkiewicz finished 63rd after an 83 in the final round.
Iona placed second at twenty six over. Creighton and Longwood tied for third at twenty eight over. Morehead State finished fifth at twenty nine over, followed by Queens Charlotte at thirty one over.
Sacred Heart and Purdue Fort Wayne tied for seventh at thirty five over. Villanova placed ninth at thirty six over, and Columbia rounded out the top ten at thirty nine over.
