Loyola Marymount Wins Team Title, Trevor Algya Captures Medalist Honors at John A. Burns Intercollegiate

The 2026 John A. Burns Intercollegiate wrapped up Saturday at the Ocean Course at Hokuala, with Loyola Marymount claiming the team title and Trevor Algya earning individual medalist honors.

Loyola Marymount finished the three round event at 10 under par, holding off UNLV, who placed second at five under. Texas A&M followed in third at five under, while New Mexico finished fourth at one under. Long Beach State rounded out the top five at one over.

In the individual race, Algya delivered a dominant final round six under 66 to finish at eight under for the tournament and secure the individual title. San Diego State’s Harry Takis placed second at seven under, while UNLV’s Mason Snyder, New Mexico’s Mesa Falleur, and California’s Ziqin Zhou shared third at six under.

BYU’s Kihei Akina finished sixth at four under. Utah’s Sergio Jimenez and Long Beach State’s Alejandro De Castro tied for seventh at three under. UTEP’s Dylan Teeter and Braden Smith both finished at two under to complete the top 10.

With the victory, Loyola Marymount closed out the week in Hawaii with both the team championship and individual medalist honors.
