Round two of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate concluded Friday at the Ocean Course at Hokuala, with Loyola Marymount and Texas A&M tied atop the team leaderboard at eight under par. Loyola Marymount followed its opening round four under performance with another four under to remain in control, while Texas A&M surged with a five under second round to pull even.
UNLV sits third at five under after posting the best round of the day, a six under performance that moved the Rebels into contention heading into the final round. BYU and New Mexico are tied for fourth at two under, while Long Beach State and St. Mary’s are tied for sixth at even par.
Individually, Loyola Marymount’s Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh climbed to the top of the leaderboard at six under par after firing a five under round on Friday. Utah’s Sergio Jimenez and UNLV’s Mason Snyder are tied for second at five under, while New Mexico’s Mesa Falleur holds fourth at four under.
A group of five players is tied for fifth at three under, including UTEP’s Braden Smith, Texas A&M’s Aaron Pounds, BYU’s Kihei Akina, and Long Beach State teammates Jack Cantlay and Alejandro De Castro.
With two rounds complete, the team race remains tight at the top and the individual leaderboard is crowded heading into Saturday’s final round in Hawaii.
