Arizona senior Filip Jakubcik, SMU senior William Sides, and San Diego State sophmore Harry Takis have been named the three finalists for the Ben Hogan Award January Golfer of the Month honor. All three players are currently ranked inside the top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Jakubcik, the No. 6 ranked amateur in the world, opened his spring season with a two shot win at the Arizona N.I.T. The senior from Holesov, Czech Republic, finished at 14 under par with a three round total of 202, posting a 67.33 scoring average and earning 18.3 WAGR points.

Sides earned his finalist spot after winning the weather shortened Jones Cup Invitational by two strokes. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native finished the event at 6 under par with a two round score of 138. He followed with a share of 11th place at the Southwestern Invitational after finishing with a 211 total at 1 over par. Ranked No. 22 in the WAGR, Sides recorded a 69.80 scoring average over five rounds and collected 32.8 WAGR points.

Takis, ranked No. 46 in the WAGR, began the spring by capturing the Southwestern Invitational title. The Brisbane, Australia native finished at 7 under par with a 203 total, winning by two strokes. He also placed runner up at the 2026 Australian Master of the Amateurs, posting a four round score of 277 at 11 under par. Takis averaged 68.57 across seven rounds and earned 31.6 WAGR points.

The January winner will be selected by a committee made up of members from the Ben Hogan Award Foundation, Friends of Golf, and the award’s partners. Fan voting is also open through Thursday at 10 p.m. CT, with the top vote getter on each @benhoganaward social media platform earning a bonus committee vote. The winner will be announced Friday.

The Ben Hogan Award presented by Baird honors the top collegiate golfer each year, evaluating results across collegiate, amateur, and professional events over a 12 month window beginning at the 2025 NCAA Championships and running through the 2026 NCAA Regionals. The award is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year in Fort Worth.
