Arizona opened the 2026 spring season with a championship performance, defeating No. 21 UCLA, 7–5, to claim the Copper Cup title at El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel, California, hosted by UCLA.
The Wildcats set the tone in alternate shot foursomes, earning three of four points in the morning session. William Wistrand and Matej Baca secured a 1 up victory, followed by a second 1 up win from Zach Pollo and Tianyi Xiong. Taishi Moto and Filip Jakubcik delivered the most decisive result of the session with a 5 and 4 win. The lone foursomes point for UCLA came against Dillon Dean and Connor Hamm.
Arizona carried a 3–1 lead into singles play and closed out the match by winning four of eight individual matches.
Wistrand produced one of the day’s strongest performances with a 7 and 6 victory. Connor Hamm added a 3 and 2 win, Jakubcik earned a 1 up decision, and Pollo finished his match 6 and 5 to secure the clinching point.
UCLA picked up singles points from Josh Kim, Tyler Loree, Alex Papayoanou, and Logan Kim, but Arizona’s balance across the lineup proved decisive.
With the victory, Arizona defeated both the No. 7 and No. 21 ranked teams to begin the spring schedule with a team title.
