The Jones Cup Invitational concluded Sunday at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island Georgia, with William Sides of Southern Methodist University capturing the championship after the tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to a fog delay on Friday.
Sides finished at six under par 138 following rounds of 69 and 69 to secure the title. He remained steady throughout the final round, holding off a tightly packed leaderboard to earn the victory at one of amateur golf’s premier events.
Frankie Harris of the University of South Carolina and Miles Russell, a Florida State commit, tied for second at four under par 140. Harris closed with a four under par 68, while Russell posted a one under par 69 to stay within two shots of the lead.
Four players tied for fourth at two under par 142, including Tyler Weaver of Florida State University, Luke Poulter of the University of Florida, Tom Fischer of the University of Mississippi, and Parker Bell of the University of Florida. Each remained in contention entering Sunday before finishing just outside the top three.
Josh Duangmanee of the University of Virginia, Ryan Voois of the University of Illinois, and Matthew Kress of the University of Florida tied for eighth at one under par 143 to round out the top ten.
Despite the early weather disruption, the championship concluded with a competitive final round and a clear winner as Sides closed out the title at Ocean Forest Golf Club.
