Hammond and Hollenbaugh Share Lead After Round One at the Sally

Round one of the 100th South Atlantic Women’s Amateur Championship concluded at Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida, with Mia Hammond of Duke and Kary Hollenbaugh of Ohio State sharing the early lead.

Hammond and Hollenbaugh each opened with six under par 66 to sit atop the leaderboard after the opening round. The pair set the pace as the field navigated Oceanside in the opening round of the championship, known as the Sally.

Alexandra Gazzoli of Florida State and Krishny Elwin of Oklahoma are tied for third at two under par 70, remaining four shots back of the lead heading into round two.

Three players are tied for fifth at one under par 71, including Amelie Zalsman of Wake Forest, Hsin Chun Liao, and Nancy Cox of Florida Atlantic. Each player stayed within range as scoring remained compact across the top of the leaderboard.

Three players share eighth place at even par 72. That group includes Katelyn Huber of Florida, Olivia Hasselbach of Furman, and Elizabeth Ryu of Rutgers.

With multiple players within striking distance, the championship moves into round two with a tightly packed leaderboard at Oceanside Country Club.
