Round one of the Saguaro Amateur concluded at Ak Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona, with Matthew Hull of UCLA moving to the top of the leaderboard.
Hull opened the championship with a nine under par 62 to take sole possession of the lead after the first round. The Corona del Mar, California native finished one shot clear of the field heading into round two.
Reese Jensen of Harvard sits in second place at eight under par 63 following a strong opening round. Jensen was previously the early pace setter before Hull posted the lowest score of the day.
Landon Ashcraft, a Texas A and M commit from Scottsdale, Arizona, and Alex Malanga of Sam Houston are tied for third at seven under par 64. Both players remain within two shots of the lead entering the second round.
Three players are tied for fifth at six under par 65, including Dylan Rodgers of Bellevue University, Nilay Naik of Michigan, and Owen Sawyer of Iowa State.
Three more players share eighth place at five under par 66. That group includes Preston Albee, an Oklahoma commit, Tobey Kim of Memphis, and Sean Keeling of Texas Tech.
With tight scoring throughout the top ten, the Saguaro Amateur is set up for a competitive second round at Ak Chin Southern Dunes.
