Round one of the Women’s Orlando Amateur concluded at Mission Resort and Club in Howey in the Hills, Florida, with a tight leaderboard forming on the Las Colinas Course.
Emerson Dever of Virginia Tech opened with a three under 69 to take the outright lead after the first round. Dever finished her round strong and holds a one shot advantage heading into round two.
A group of four players sits one stroke back at two under. Honghong Zhou and Ga Hui Kim each posted 69, while Mason Lewis of North Texas and Elizabeth Guthrie joined them after rounds of 70 and 69. The group remained within reach throughout the day and kept pressure on the lead.
Five players are tied for sixth at one under 71, including Zilin Xu of Grace, Karen Stefansdottir of the University of St Thomas, Helen Yeung of North Carolina, Shuyi Cao of California Baptist, and Elsa Wu, who carded a one under 70.
Sophia Lee of Sacramento State sits just outside the top group at even par 72, keeping herself within striking distance as the championship continues.
The field completed the opening round with minimal separation near the top, setting up a competitive second round at Mission Resort and Club.
