Parker Sands of Florida will carry a two shot lead into the final round of the 122nd Trans Mississippi Amateur Championship after shooting a 4 under 68 during Thursday’s third round at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sands moved to 11 under 202 through 54 holes following rounds of 64, 70, and 68. Oklahoma’s Ryder Cowan remains within striking distance in second place at 9 under 204 after posting his third consecutive round of 68.
Four players are tied for third at 6 under 207. TCU’s Sam Udovich carded a 68, South Alabama’s Hugo Thyr fired a 69, Cal State Long Beach’s Jack Cantlay also shot 69, and Notre Dame’s Zihang Mike Qiu fell into the tie after a third round 72.
Washington’s Jacob Goode recorded the low round of the day with a 7 under 65 to climb into seventh place at 5 under 208.
Wake Forest’s Kyle Haas and New Mexico’s Thayer Plewe are tied for eighth at 3 under 210, while Kentucky’s Cole Stockard rounds out the top 10 at 2 under 211 heading into Friday’s championship round.
