West Texas A&M and Missouri St. Louis opened the NCAA Division II Men’s National Championship tied for the lead at 10 under after the first round at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
Florida Southern and Lee sit tied for third at 8 under, while Georgia Southwestern and Colorado Christian are tied for fifth at 5 under. Top ranked West Florida finished the opening round in seventh at 3 under.
West Texas A&M was led by Luis Palomo and David Vega Gerstel, who each carded 6 under rounds to share the individual lead. Lee’s George Cordall also finished the day at 6 under.
Missouri St. Louis’ Logan Mayo, Colorado State Pueblo individual Archie Wyatt, and West Florida’s TJ Thompson are tied for fourth at 5 under.
Daniel Solavera of Missouri St. Louis, Ian Pienaar of Columbus State, and Lee’s Bennett McNabb are tied for seventh at 4 under, while Florida Southern’s Max Barile is tied for 10th at 3 under.
