Sacramento State Wins Big Sky Championship, Gabriel Smith Claims Individual Title in Playoff

Sacramento State captured the Big Sky Conference Championship at Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona, finishing at 23 under to secure the team title. Idaho placed second at 14 under, while Northern Colorado finished third at 6 under.

Francis Marion ended the week at even par in fourth, followed by Weber State at 2 over and Eastern Washington at 4 over.

In the individual standings, Sacramento State’s Gabriel Smith earned medalist honors after winning a playoff on the first extra hole. Smith finished tied at 9 under alongside teammate Jai Bahl, who posted a tournament low 11 under round during the event. Smith closed with rounds of 4 under, 4 under, and 1 under to reach the playoff before securing the title.

Northern Colorado’s Kaelen Dulany finished third at 7 under, while Weber State’s Matthew Wilson placed fourth at 6 under. Idaho’s Samuel Johnson finished fifth at 5 under.

Francis Marion’s Leander Neuhaus and Idaho’s Joe Sykes tied for sixth at 4 under. Northern Colorado’s Thomas Barnes Grimes finished eighth at 3 under, while Francis Marion’s Chan Lee and Sacramento State’s Zachary Matzke tied for ninth at 2 under.
