Long Beach State junior Erin Lee enters the spring stretch as one of the program’s most reliable contributors, backed by a strong junior golf resume, steady collegiate development, and an approach centered on confidence and course management.
Originally from Langley, British Columbia, Lee began playing golf at age 10 after being introduced to the game by her father. She played multiple sports growing up before committing fully to golf, eventually building a competitive foundation through elite junior events and international representation for Canada.
Lee’s amateur career included multiple victories, a personal low round of 64, and a third place finish at the 2022 Canadian Junior Girls Championship. She also captured the 2022 Cactus Tour Collegiate Challenge, a win that helped solidify her trajectory entering college golf.
Choosing Long Beach State
During the recruiting process, Lee targeted a West Coast program that would keep her closer to home while offering year round playing conditions. After visiting Long Beach State, she felt an immediate connection to the coaching staff, campus environment, and practice facilities, leading her to commit to the Beach.
Collegiate Growth and Breakthrough Momentum
Lee’s freshman season was limited to six appearances after an injury forced her to withdraw from a tournament in Hawaii. Entering her sophomore year, she focused on rebuilding her game and resetting expectations, which helped her return with greater confidence and consistency.
In 2024–25, Lee produced a breakout season, earning Honorable Mention All Big West honors while also receiving recognition for her academic performance. She recorded a career best finish of tied for third at the Big West Championship, leading Long Beach State with a 218 total.
Lee credited her improvement to experience and comfort in the collegiate environment, noting that she felt far more prepared during her second season and became more confident in tournament settings.
Summer Experience and US Amateur Qualification
Lee continued her development during the offseason by qualifying for the U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes, where her coach traveled to caddie for her throughout the week. The experience provided another valuable opportunity to compete against elite national talent.
Coach and Team Culture
Lee described Long Beach State head coach Alyssa White as a major influence in her growth, emphasizing the trust and support she provides both on and off the course. She also highlighted the team’s chemistry entering the season, noting that the roster features several new faces but has quickly developed strong cohesion in competition.
Event Focus: GameAbove Golf Invitational
Lee and Long Beach State will be part of the field at the inaugural GameAbove Golf Invitational, hosted by USC and Eastern Michigan at Rolling Hills Country Club in Rolling Hills Estates, California. The event will serve as a key early season measuring point, giving Lee the chance to test her game against one of the strongest lineups they will face this spring.
Lee said the tournament provides an opportunity to compare her performance against top programs nationally while also competing at a venue that is familiar and geographically convenient.
With Rolling Hills known for challenging wind conditions, Lee noted that controlling ball flight and managing trajectory will be central to her preparation heading into the event.
