Charlie Woods, a junior at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, has verbally committed to play college golf at Florida State and will join the Seminoles as part of the 2027 recruiting class.
Woods has climbed to No. 21 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, highlighted by his first AJGA victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational last May. He posted a 54 hole total of 15 under 201 to earn the title, a result that helped launch his rapid rise after entering the event ranked outside the top 600.
Since then, Woods has continued to build momentum on the national junior stage, tying for ninth at the Boys Junior PGA Championship in July and finishing tied for 18th at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in November.
He also played a key role in helping The Benjamin School capture a Florida High School Athletic Association Class A state championship last fall, closing with a 4 under 68 in the final round.
Florida State head coach Trey Jones, who is set to begin his 23rd season leading the Seminoles, continues to build one of the top recruiting pipelines in college golf. Florida State also holds a commitment from Miles Russell, the current No. 1 player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.
The Seminoles have remained a consistent national contender in recent seasons, finishing runner up at the 2024 NCAA Championship and placing ninth at last spring’s NCAA Championship, narrowly missing a spot in match play. Under Jones, Florida State has produced multiple PGA Tour talents, including Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger, along with recent standout Luke Clanton.
