UNCW has named Wilmington native Blake Taylor as the head coach of the Seahawks men’s golf program, UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger announced Thursday.
Taylor served as interim head coach beginning in August 2025 and led the program throughout the Fall 2025 season. He will now assume the role permanently, effective immediately.
Taylor joined UNCW’s coaching staff in January 2023 after working in competitive golf instruction and player development. During his time with the Seahawks, he has contributed to recruiting, player development planning, tournament preparation, and overall program operations.
Taylor played collegiately at East Carolina from 2016 to 2020, where he ranked second in program history in career stroke average and posted one of the lowest single season scoring averages in school history. After graduating, he competed on several mini tours and played in the 2018 A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier, a PGA Tour event.
Before college, Taylor attended Wilmington Christian Academy, where he helped lead the Patriots to four North Carolina Christian School Association boys golf team championships. He earned medalist honors at the 2015 NCCSA Championship and finished runner up in 2014 and 2016.
Taylor was also named the Wilmington Star News 2015 Boys Golf Player of the Year and earned North Carolina All State First Team recognition in 2015 through the Tar Heel Youth Golf Association and the Carolinas Golf Association.
