Edwin Watts Golf Shops Named Presenting Sponsor of the 100th Texas Junior Amateur

The Texas Junior Amateur will celebrate its 100th playing in 2026 with Edwin Watts Golf Shops returning as the presenting sponsor, marking the second consecutive year of the partnership. One of the most established junior championships in the state, the Texas Junior Amateur has served for a century as a pathway for elite junior golfers pursuing collegiate and professional careers.

Organized by the Texas Golf Association, the championship has long been recognized for its competitive depth and role in developing high level junior talent across Texas. The centennial edition highlights both the tournament’s history and its continued focus on investing in the future of the game.

Founded in 1968, Edwin Watts Golf Shops operates nearly 100 retail locations across 25 states, including five in Texas. The company is an authorized retailer for all major golf brands and is known for custom club fitting, professional service, and its 90 day satisfaction guarantee. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to junior golf, as many Edwin Watts employees developed through competitive junior programs themselves.

As part of the sponsorship, Edwin Watts Golf Shops will also support live coverage of the championship’s final day through Championship Golf Network. The broadcast continues a growing emphasis on expanding access and visibility for junior golf events.

The 100th Texas Junior Amateur will be contested at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas. Stonebriar is the first private country club in Frisco and features two championship courses. The Tom Fazio designed Fazio Course opened in 2000 and is known for its modern layout and elevation changes, while the original Dye Course designed by Joe Finger and Ken Dye has been a cornerstone of the club since 1988.

Throughout its history, the Texas Junior Amateur has produced champions who went on to significant professional success. Past winners include Jordan Spieth, Ben Crenshaw, Bruce Lietzke, Scott Verplank, and Angela Stanford. The 2026 champions will add their names to that list at one of the state’s most recognized venues.

The championship has earned designation as a USGA Exemption Event for the third straight year. Boys Division champions will receive an exemption into the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur at Saucon Valley, while Girls Division champions will earn an exemption into the 77th U.S. Girls Junior Amateur at Old Chatham.

The stroke play championship features four divisions: Boys 15 to 18, Girls 15 to 18, Boys 14 and under, and Girls 14 and under. Older divisions will compete over 54 holes with a cut after the second round.
