Reigning NCAA individual champion Michael La Sasso has turned professional and signed with LIV Golf, joining Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC ahead of the 2026 season.
The former Ole Miss standout will forfeit his remaining NCAA eligibility and his exemption into the 2026 Masters, which is reserved for the current NCAA champion who remains an amateur. La Sasso’s decision ends one of the most decorated college careers in recent seasons and moves him directly into the professional ranks on the LIV circuit.
La Sasso captured the NCAA individual title last spring at Omni La Costa and was named a first team All American after leading Ole Miss to the NCAA Championship semifinals. He became the second NCAA individual champion in program history, joining Braden Thornberry, and finished the 2024 to 2025 season with a school record scoring average of 69.48. He also represented the United States at the 2025 Walker Cup.
After turning professional, La Sasso will join a HyFlyers roster that includes Mickelson, Cameron Tringale, and Brendan Steele. His signing is one of LIV Golf’s most notable additions of the offseason as the league continues to add elite amateur and collegiate talent.
La Sasso played in six PGA Tour events last year and made one cut. He made two stroke play starts during the fall season and was ranked 100th in the NCAA rankings before announcing his move to LIV.
His departure leaves Ole Miss without its NCAA champion as the Rebels prepare for the spring season with national championship aspirations.
