Silicon Valley Amateur Elevates Championship Status at Stanford

The AmateurGolf.com Silicon Valley Amateur returns January 12 to 14, 2026, with a 54 hole championship at Stanford University Golf Course.

The championship has a strong history of producing elite talent. Collin Morikawa won the event in 2016 before becoming a two time major champion, while Max Homa claimed the title in 2011 on his path to PGA Tour success. Their victories reflect the level of competition the Silicon Valley Amateur consistently attracts.

Stanford University Golf Course provides a demanding test built on precision and strategy. Designed by George C Thomas and Billy Bell Jr., the par 70 layout plays to 6,727 yards and features firm fairways, contoured greens, and San Francisquito Creek influencing nearly half the holes. Renovations in 2008 and 2018 preserved the course’s character while enhancing its championship readiness.

The venue has hosted NCAA Championships, Pac 12 Championships, U.S. Open Qualifying, and numerous USGA events, and serves as home to Stanford’s nationally recognized golf programs.

Beyond WAGR points, the winner earns an exemption into the San Francisco City Championship, adding further competitive incentive.

With a world class venue, global ranking implications, and a true 54 hole championship format, the Silicon Valley Amateur at Stanford remains a defining test on the West Coast amateur calendar.Sources
