Round one of the Jones Cup Invitational resumed and concluded Saturday at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island Georgia after a fog delay suspended play earlier in the day. The opening round was completed in full following the delay, setting the stage for a competitive leaderboard heading into Sunday.
Grayson Wood of the University of Georgia sits atop the leaderboard after posting a six under par 66 in round one. Wood set the pace with a clean card and holds a one shot advantage entering the second round.
Tom Fischer of the University of Mississippi is alone in second place at five under par 67, staying within close range after a steady opening round.
Seven players are tied for third at three under par 69. That group includes Parker Bell and Matthew Kress of the University of Florida, Ryan Voois and Max Herendeen of the University of Illinois, William Sides of Southern Methodist University, Paul Chang of the University of Virginia, and Ryan Voois remains among the early contenders following the resumed round.
Carter Loflin of the University of Georgia and Luke Poulter of the University of Florida are tied for ninth at two under par 70, rounding out the top ten after day one.
Round two is scheduled to resume Sunday at Ocean Forest Golf Club.
